FAV FALL NAILPOLISHES

hey :) another fall inspired post!
I really feel this time of year is really important on updating your style and making your spring/summer style evolve into your fall/winter looks.

(from left to right: OPI's The "It" Color, OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark, Milani's Ready To Wear Red, Essie's Mink Muffs, and Mac's Originality)

THE "IT" COLOR
The "It" Color by OPI is a really really fun fall-inspired polish. Although it is not in OPI's fall collection, I feel that it deserves to be mentioned. Yellow nails have been really big this entire year, but this type of yellow is unusual and perfect for the cooler months. The best way to describe this polish is a mustard yellow. The consistency is great--not too thick, not too thin. Two coats are all that are needed. A fun fall color like this one is essential for fall nails.

LINCOLN PARK AFTER DARK
One of OPI's most famous polishes, this color is PERFECT for fall. It is a very dark, almost black, polish with deep plum undertones. The payoff is fabulous, only one coat is truly needed (although I always use two). This color is also not in OPI's fall collection but is a necessity for fall and winter months. A dark plum/eggplant is a staple in any nail fanatic's collection.

READY TO WEAR RED
A good red nail polish is a staple for fall nails. It is important to find one that suits your skin tone. Milani's Ready To Wear Red is a perfect fall polish, and a perfect red in my opinion. It has a dark, vampy vibe with blue undertones. I feel that this color works well with alot of skintones. This is one of the best drugstore brands I have found and the color consistency is amazing.

MINK MUFFS
A really popular fall nail trend is very muddy colors. A dark, plummy-gray is going to be very fashionable this fall and winter. Mink Muffs is my favorite fall polish. It works well with most skintones. This color is still on the neutral side, but it really stands out. The consistency is good and another added bonus is all Essie polishes are natural and made without formaldehyde.

ORIGINALITY
A good frosted polish is also very in this fall. I love this color by Mac because it really plays off the autumn colors and the changing leaves. I feel this is a really really good frost, it's not too glittery and applys with ease. Although a lot of Mac polishes are sheer this one is very opaque--another plus! I originally got this polish with mac's summer 2010 collection: Pret-a-Papier, but I know this color is typically on Mac's permanent line. If you can get your hands on this polish I would definitely recommend it !

REVIEW: Seche Vite VS. Mega Shine

hey :)

Today I'm going to be reviewing 2 products that are constantly compared. The products I'll be reviewing are Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat and Sally Hansen Mega Shine Extended Wear Top Coat. These products both claim to do the same job: extend the wear of your polish, add shine, and dry your nails quickly. There are similarities in the products, however there are several differences that I want to touch base on.

Each topcoat is around the same price (between $7-10) however, Mega Shine is found in drugstores and Seche Vite is found in salons and beauty supply stores. The consistency is pretty similar with both topcoats--it has a very thick consistency in which you apply to wet nails. Applying to wet nails is the key to making these products work for you. When applying Mega Shine the scent is very similar to straight acetone (acetone is the chemical found in nailpolish remover). What I like better about Seche Vite is that the smell is not quite as powerful as Mega Shine and it smells more like regular nailpolish. The brushes on both of these topcoats is very similar and each applies pretty much the same. Also a major plus: each topcoat really did make the polish dry faster--I was apply to fully use my hands and specifically my fingers after about 20-30 min. The main differences I found were about how these products "extend" the wear of your polish. Mega Shine did keep my nails EXTREMELY shiny. The topcoat kept my polish looking very vibrant, however chipping did occur within a few days. Seche Vite's topcoat extended the life of my polish for about a solid week, but after 2-3 days my polish started looking dull and it had an almost subtle matte-ifying affect on my polish.

 So which product is better?
I honestly can't say. I like both and possibly the combination of both would be the perfect topcoat. I would recommend both because the price is reasonable and they do their job as a topcoat.

8 MOST WORN ITEMS:

hey :) today I'm going to let you into my personal fashion sense by doing a popular YouTube tag called the "8 most worn tag." It's pretty basic--just a bunch of categories for me to tell you what my favorite and most used products are ! Hope you enjoy :))

1. Most Worn Lipgloss or Lipstick:

My most worn lipstick by far is Revlon's "Soft Nude" lipstick. Although I do own higher end lipsticks, my all time favorite is soft nude. It has the creamiest consistency and is very long-lasting. I even find that it is a great dupe for mac's "Blankety."
here's the 2 side by side (left to right soft nude, blankety)

2. Most Worn Earrings

When it comes to earrings I am a pretty basic person. I usually don't change my earrings every and I stick mainly with studs. My most worn earrings are my pearl earrings that have a yellow gold backing. I love these earrings SO much! They are so comfortable that I don't even have to take them out when I go to sleep.

3. Most Worn Shirt

This was the hardest category for me. It was hard because trends are always changing as well as my personal style. I don't exactly have a "Most Worn Shirt" because I am constantly updating my wardrobe. HOWEVER, my most worn style of shirts are definitely oversized and plaid. Oversized shirts are great with high-waisted clothes and can be paired with fun jewelry. I typically like to wear my oversized shirts off the shoulder. My other most worn style of shirt is plaid. Plaid has been super in for the past 2 years and I fully support this trend. I think plaid adds an instant contrast to an outfit and can be dressed up or toned down.

4. Most Worn Nailpolish

My most worn nailpolish by far is Milani's "Ready to Wear Red." This is my all time favorite red nailpolish because of it's dark vampy vibe. It has more blue undertones and I feel this works best with my skin tone. I am a HUGE fan of red nails! This nailpolish can be picked up at the drugstore, although it is a bit pricey at around 5 dollars.
5. Most Worn Shoes

My most worn shoes are definitely my red "Toms." If you are unfamiliar with Toms it is a company that donates a pair of shoes to needy children every time you purchase a pair. These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and are a staple in my wardrobe. They are made for both men and women and can be most easily found at Nordstroms.

6. Most Worn Hair Product

My most worn hair product hands down is Bed Head's "Hard Head" hairspray. It is easily recognizable by its metallic silver packaging. It is an amazing hairspray that I use daily to hold any style you desire. You can find this at the drugstore or at Sally's Beauty Supply.
7. Most Worn Perfume

My most worn perfume is called Kai. I stumbled upon this perfume in a salon in Birmingham. It was a cold, gray, winter day and the scent immediately put me in a better mood. It smells exactly of springtime: it's warm, soft, and smells of blooming flowers. It is a blend of tropical gardenia and white exotic flowers. Although it is expensive ($80) it is 100% worth the price.

8. Most Worn Handbag/Purse

My most worn purse is a huge, oversized, slouchy, mint green purse. I purchased it from Urban Outfitters about a year ago, but it is made by the company Deux Lux. It is a HUGE bag that can fit and unbelievalbe amount of things inside. The print on the inside is very cute and fun. This bag can be used throughout the whole year, adding a pop of color into your outfit. When I purchased this bag it retailed at about $60.

What's your most worn items?

FAVORITE DRUGSTORE PRODUCTS ! :))

hey everyone :)

With today's economy buying expensive name-brand makeup becomes a luxury that we often times cannot fit into our budget. I have tested and LOVED a few drugstore products that are affordable and that actually do the job! I hope this will save some of you money and give you an idea of what to look for at the drugstore.

Essence of Beauty Cosmetic Brushes

Cosmetic brushes are a neccessity if you are a frequent makeup user. There are a TON of options--yet the options given are usually out-of-this-world expensive. My favorite drugstore cosmetic brushes are the "Essence of Beauty" brushes. The brushes are easily recognizable; they have a cream colored handle with a black tip. The brushes are very inexpensive and give really great payoff. All the Essence of Beauty brushes that I own have not shed once and they are made from premium goat hair.

GREAT LASH - Clear Mascara

Although clear mascara is not a necessity to all makeup collections, it can easily be added because of this cheap alternative to high-end products. This clear mascara works GREAT as a brow gel--it really works just as good (if not better) as mac's brow gel. This also can be used to help curl your eyelashes.

Fashion Lashes + DUO Eyelash Adhesive
A quick, easy, and inexpensive way to spice up your look is to add false lashes. Falsies give the apperance of longer, thicker, lashes with loads of volume. These eyelashes and eyelash adhesive are found and most drugstores and work BETTER than mac eyelashes. The eyelashes can be reused if taken care of and the Duo Adhesive lasts and lasts and lasts. ( a TINY drop goes a long way with this particular glue )

L'OREAL Carbon Black Liner Intense Felt Tip Liquid Liner
My ALL TIME, holy grail, FAVORITE liquid liner, favorite LINER of all liners is the L'oreal Carbon Black Liner Intense. This is the BLACKEST of all blacks, goes on smooth against your eye, is inexpensive, and very versatile. This liner can make a thick line, a thin line, a winged affect, anything you want, this liner can do. This liner stays on all day, yet is easily removed. I cannot say enough great things about this product !!!

Revlon Lipstick in "Soft Nude"
One of the best nude lipsticks is Revlon's "Soft Nude." This is a very creamy lipstick that has great color payoff.  It is also very inexpensive and it lasts for a very long time ! It has a minimal scent which is unlike many drugstore lipsticks.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
My favorite chapstick is Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. The formula is very cooling on the lips and leaves your lips moisturized, but not glossy. This particular chapstick comes in a few other colors and scents but I prefer the original.

FLAWLESS FACE -- Sensitive Skin Products

hey everyone :) so I know a lot of people have great success using the "Proactiv" skincare line to solve their blemish problems. There is a TON of products out there geared toward acne prone skin. However, what happens if you are acne prone but have sensitive skin? This has been an unanswered question for years among people of all ages. Personally, my search for the perfect sensitive skin products has been over the course of many years. But finally I have found my holy grail routine that I hope will benefit others !!

CLEANSERS:

My favorite cleansers of all time for sensitive skin are Neutrogena's "Fresh Foaming Cleanser" and Philosophy's "Purity."

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser comes out of the pump as a gel and quickly turns into a foam. The smell is minimal--it smells like basic hand soap. This cleanser does not dry out your face and it does not leave you greasy. It leaves your skin "refreshingly clean." This cleanser retails at about $6-8.

Purity One-Step facial cleanser is very natural cleanser that makes your skin feel fresh and look bright. It's consistency is very creamy and it lathers in typical soap fashion. It has an earthy scent--very pleasant and fresh. It has a non-drying affect and leaves your skin with a bit of moisture. This retails at about $20.

Both cleansers have the added bonus of removing your makeup.

MOISTURIZERS:

My favorite moisturizers, hands down, are Cetaphil's "Daily Facial Moisturizer" and Estion's "Daily Facial Moisturizer."

Cetaphil Skincare Products are very reputable among dermatologists and are geared toward people with sensitive skin. This white moisturizer is very creamy and can be applied light (one pump) or thick (2-3 pumps). It has an SPF of 15 and is advertised as a "lightweight, non-greasy formula" which I can only back up because of the wonderful results it has given. This moisturizer retails at about $8-10.

Estion Daily Moisturizer has been introduced to me by my dermatologist. It has a thicker formula then the Cetaphil, but is equally efficient. Just a pea-size amount goes a long way. This moisturizer has an SPF of 25, which is why this moisturizer has a distinct sunscreen scent. Although appealing to some, the scent does fade after a few minutes. This moisturizer retails at about $20.

SPOT THERAPY:

Spot therapy is one of the products that have given me the most grief throughout my journey to find my best skincare solutions. Either the products gave me allergic reactions or they didn't work up to their full potential, until I found 2 spot treatments that have never failed.

Rare Minerals by Bare Escentuals has given me great results as a spot treatment. The combination of natural ingredients and minerals plus the 3% of sulfur really reduces the size of blemishes overnight. The product is a cream powder that you apply with a "concealer" type makeup brush. This therapy retails at about $28 (including brush).

Although the Proactiv line has caused allergic reactions to my skin, the "refining mask" used as a spot treatment has given me great results at fighting acne. The formula is thick and white and a little goes a VERY long way. Typically this product is applied before bed and when you wake up your blemish is noticeably smaller. This product retails at about $7-10.

TOP 5 FALL TRENDS

hey everyone :) so today I am going to be talking about fall 2010's top 5 trends. A lot of the trends from summer have been incorporated into fall and by adding these new key pieces you don't have to spend a lot to transform your summer wardrobe into a fall-inspired one. Hope you enjoy ! :)

1. ARMY/SURPLUS:

This fall one of the biggest trend is the "army/surplus" trend. Whether its as eccentric as a full on military blazer or as simple as just including military green into your fall wardrobe it is EASY to be fashion-forward. The military trend really focuses on double breasted coats, button detailing, strong shoulders, and mid-calf "combat" boots. These pieces are available in a myriad of stores including Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters.

2. OVERSIZED:

"Oversized" is a trend that started throughout spring and summer and now has evolved into a fall trend. Whether its oversized shirts, pants, sunglasses, or rings, the BIGGER the BETTER. This trend is very 80's-inspired and it is very easy to include this for fall. Forever 21 sells sunglasses and rings for $5 and under, raiding your mother's closet for big, baggy sweatshirts is priceless !!, and thrift and vintage stores carry large, off-the-shoulder tee's.

D.I.Y. : Find a large old graphic tee and cut the neckline. This transforms it into an off the shoulder, oversized, fashion statement.

3. ANIMAL PRINT

Animal print is one of those trends that is a "trend" for that very reason. It has gone from cute, to gaudy, and back to in style once again. The key to using this trend to spice up your wardrobe is to include only one animal print item throughout your outfit. Whether its a zebra clutch or a cheetah scarf, keep your prints at a minimum.

4. HIGH-WAISTED

One of the most popular trends at the moment is the "high-waisted" jeans, shorts, or skirts. They can make a casual outfit instantly dressier. High-waisted items are very slimming because the accentuate the waistline.

5. SCARVES

Scarves are a reoccurring trend that easily transform a summer outfit into a fall one. Back by popular demand, scarves are coming out in bold patterns, chunky knits, and classic plaid. They are a trend that can easily be carried into winter and help fight the cold months.

ENJOY! & THANKS FOR READING :))
